City of Belton set to consider redevelopment plan for Southview Golf Course
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 5, 2018– Belton, MO— The Belton Planning Commission will consider a proposal by NorthPoint Development to redevelop the former Southview Golf Course into a 148-acre flex industrial campus. At full buildout, the Southview Commerce Center will include five buildings totaling more than 2 million square feet of state-of-the-art light manufacturing, warehouse and distribution space and create an estimated 1,400 jobs with a potential annual wage impact of $58 million.
“NorthPoint has an exceptional track record of developing quality business parks in Kansas City and throughout the country,” said Belton City Manager Alexa Barton. “Belton Economic Development Director Carolyn Yatsook has worked diligently to raise Belton’s profile as a leader in creating advanced manufacturing and logistics jobs in the Midwest, and NorthPoint’s investment validates those efforts.”
The former Southview Golf Course has been vacant for more than a decade. The Belton Planning Commission will consider NorthPoint’s proposed $105.5 million project in mid-May with full City Council consideration expected in June and groundbreaking later this year.
“Belton has been an unbelievable partner, and we look forward to working with various governmental entities over the next several months to obtain necessary approvals,” NorthPoint Vice President of Development Brent Miles said.
